EVENTS AND  COMPETITIONS

:: The Amari Watergate Christmas and New Year Party held by the pool on 20th December was a glamorous affair attended by the beautiful people (it's a good job John was on his bike cycling to Phnom Penh at the time!). Over 300 members and guests enjoyed delicious food, games, scintillating shows and the company of many local movie stars - seen in the photo helping General Manager Pierre-Andre Pelletier cut the cake.

:: The Aerobics Workshop and Master Class conducted by Radha Graind from Australia has become an established annual event at the Amari Atrium Hotel and, judging by the turnout, is as popular as ever. Organised by Manager Urai the workshop held on 2nd February attracted a record number of participants with proceeds going to support the Amari Hotels & Resorts charity, 'Baht for a Better Life'.

:: It was all happening at the Chaengwattana center on Sunday, 23rd February starting
with the annual Clark Hatch Swimming Competition during the morning and afternoon, followed by a Members Thankyou Party in the evening. Manager Pongsak must have been a very tired man at the end of the day! The swimming was won by, you guessed it, Chaengwattana, then Seri Center with Thaniya picking up third place. The Amari Atrium was unanimously voted the best Cheerleader Team for their non-stop song and dance display!
Photos show John presenting the Chaengwattana team captain the winners trophy, the Atrium Cheerleaders, and the members party later that evening - have you ever seen so many smiling faces (maybe the bottle of Red Label had something to do with it!)

:: This certainly looks like fun judging from the smile on Assistant Manager Taddy's face! These aqua aerobic sessions are being held every Sunday between 5 and 6pm at the Amari Watergate Hotel pool until the end of April. All Clark Hatch members are invited to join in and its FREE!

:: 1st recorded overland trip from Bangkok to Phnom Penh - by bicycle! It was 755 kilometers and 7 days from Clark Hatch Thaniya to the Clark Hatch center in Phnom Penh. Completed by John and long time member, Stuart Lloyd, the route covered the new road being constructed by the Royal Thai Army from the Cambodian border at Koh Kong to the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukeville highway - 152 kilometers of hills, dust and heat (37 degrees in the shade - trouble is there wasn't any!). A big thank you to the Thai police at Khao Chok Police Station, Chon Buri for allowing us to bed down in their cells for the night and Miss Sa at the second river crossing in Cambodia for inviting us to sleep on her restaurant tables one lovely, starlit evening. Quite an experience but not something I'll be doing every Christmas!
:: The New Year Party at the Thaniya center had it all - good food, delicious fruit punch, great entertainment, and fantastic company. An abundance of hidden talent was revealed during the evening - and most of us with normal hearing would appreciate it staying that way - hidden! A big thank you to Luen and all the staff for organising this very successful event. Thanks also to the generous sponsors for helping make it such a fantastic evening.
:: It was also party time at the Windsor Suites center on 3rd January and a great time was had by all. A big thank you to the hotel catering staff for laying on a super, healthy buffet.

:: A very important workshop - Programme card review - was conducted by former manager Aor at the Thaniya center early March. This was particularly beneficial for our new instructors as it included all aspects of exercise programming for members. A big thank you to Khun Aor for an excellent presentation.

:: A friendly tennis tournament between Thaniya members and those of the Hilton Hotel was organised at the beautiful Hilton courts on 2nd March. We won't mention the score, but sufficient to say a fun time was had by all!
